1. A Cold Drink

What would Canada Day be without a cold drink? Whether you’re a fan of refreshing iced tea, popular pop, or water, as long as there’s ice in it it’s a good choice!

2. Canadian Inukshuk Dangle Earrings

A classic symbol of Canada, Inukshuks are an iconic part of history. Show some pride for the art form by sporting these stunning dangling earrings at any event you go to (even after Canada Day). This is one of those Canada Day items you can use all year.

3. A Hat

This one’s more for those planning to spend the day outside, but the point is still important: if you’re going to spend the day in the sun, wear a hat! Any hat will do: baseball cap, bucket hat – just make sure it fits properly.

6. Poutine

This Canada Day item is so iconic we had to put it on our list! The classic combo of cheese curds, fries, and gravy is the ultimate comfort food. If you’re celebrating in a giant park with a bunch of friends, waiting for the fireworks show or staying in at home reading up on The Guide to Canada, poutine is always a good choice.

7. Sunglasses

Again, protecting yourself against the sun is very important. It doesn’t have to be boring, though. You can go with any old pair of sunglasses, or you can buy a novelty pair just for the occasion.

8. Silver Canadian Band Ring

This Canada Day item is a little different than the usual ones. The sterling silver band ring is usually reserved as plain wedding bands, so this being covered in maple leaves makes it a must-have in its own right.

9. Grilled Food

It doesn’t matter if you’re a Grill Master cooking up some steaks and hot dogs or you’re planning to order something from the local BBQ place up the street, if it’s grilled it’s perfect for the occasion!

11. Plaid Shirt

Well, plaid anything, really. The idea that Canadians wear a lot of plaid is an international joke. Many tv shows and movies refer to plaid fashion as being rather “Canadian” looking. Even if you don’t necessarily agree, you have to admit, it’s still a great look to have in your wardrobe.

12. Mountain Studs

They may not be exactly Canadian, but this stud is a little more on the subtle side. For those of you who like to celebrate without the flashy flags and bright colours, these satin finished mountain studs are a great representation of the rockies (after all, it’s not all about Ontario!)

13. Maple Syrup

A staple in all Canadian sweets, maple syrup anything is always a go-to. Maple candies? Cookies with maple icing inside? On top of pancakes? However you like to eat it, go for it!

14. Tim Hortons Gear

Love it or hate it, Tim Hortons is synonymous with Canadian culture. So much so, that just about everyone’s aunt, mom, or grandma has an old-fashioned Tim Horton’s mug from back when the company sold strictly doughnuts and coffee. Why not break it out for the occasion?
