Just as we mentioned in our diamonds blog post, we’re not going to skip this month’s zodiac signs just because we didn’t send out an April email. April’s zodiac signs are too interesting to skip. While Aries and Taurus are both similar in features (so similar, that many consider Taurus to simply be a continuation of Aries), yet, they’re very dissimilar to each other personality-wise. Keep reading, because we’ll explain it all here!
Aries (March 20 to April 21)
Last month we focused on Aries, so we won’t go too into detail. If you want a full summary of this half of April’s zodiac signs, you can read up about it here.
In short, Aries is the sign of the ram and often associated with ancient Greek myths. Truth be told, it’s more likely a Babylonian trope. Aries are said to be courageous, determined, and short-tempered, which is very fitting considering it’s a fire sign.
Taurus (April 22 to May 20)
Etymology
The second half of April’s zodiac signs shouldn’t be overlooked – it’s actually a very interesting read. Bulls, much like dogs or cats, have a long history with humans. For the Ancient Greeks, they were intertwined with many of their tales, including the miniature that lived in the labyrinth.
However, in this case, the Greeks chose the bull to represent the moment when Zeus transformed into a bull to win the heart of Europa, a Phoenician princess. Princess Europa was impressed enough to hop on the bull’s back and travel across the Mediterranean sea to the island of Crete. It was here that Zeus and Europa had their three children, Minos, Rhadamanthus, and Sarpedon together. Minos eventually became king of Crete, but that’s a tale for another time.
Alternatively, there’s the story of Zeus falling for Io, Hera’s personal priestess. When Hera hears about this, she transforms Io into a bull and cursed her to walk alone on Earth forever. Eventually, Zeus found out, restored Io to her human form, and had children together.
There’s also mention of a bull in the Mesopotamian classic, Epic of Gilgamesh. The goddess Ishtar sends Taurus to kill Gilgamesh for rejecting her romantic feelings.
Traits
Tauruses are said to be reliable, stubborn, and responsible. Sometimes supposed traits of Aries are linked back to Taurus, but again, that’s because many believe that April’s zodiac signs are actually one.
However, other traits like devoted, trustworthy, and honesty aren’t often found in Aries’ alone. It really just comes down to who you’re talking to.
Interests
Tauruses are said to enjoy the finer things in life. High-quality clothes, interestingly enough, are said to be a common item found in the closets of anyone born under this sign. Gardening, cooking, and working with their hands are also popular among Tauruses – so much so that there may be a co-relation between trade workers and birthdays?
With this in mind, this half of April’s zodiac signs dislike complications, insecurity, and synthetic fabrics.
