The triquetra has been used by several different civilizations in Europe since about 500 B.C. It represents different concepts depending on which civilization uses it, including, but not limited to: The Holy Trinity, The Goddess Mother, The Three Domains, and The Three Stages of Life. When combined with the Claddagh, a traditional Irish symbol for love, loyalty, and friendship, it created a lovely accessory with positive intentions.
