July’s Zodiac Signs: Cancer and Leo

July’s Zodiac signs couldn’t seem more different: one’s a water sign while the other is fire. In actuality, they’re very similar. Both put emphasis on family and friends, both value loyalty, and both take an interest in art – albeit different types – the pair would get along swimmingly. Keep reading to learn more facts about them.

Cancer (June 20th – July 22)

Last month we did focus more on the famous crustation, so if you want the full information, be sure to visit the blog post here.

This half of July’s Zodiac signs are emotional and mysterious people, but they do put their loved ones above all else. They consider family and friends very important and will go out of their way to help them.
They enjoy staying home and doing activities within the house. These include solving puzzles, reading, and admiring art.

Leo (July 23rd – August 22nd)

Etymology

The word “Leo” comes from the Latin word for lion. The constellation includes the star, Regulus, which means “little king.”

Many argue that Leo is one of the oldest constellations identified. Traces of it can be found as 4000 B.C. in cultures including Mesopotamian, Persian, and Indian.

According to the Sumerians, the constellation represents Humbaba, guardian of the Cedar Forest, from the Epic of Gilgamesh. However, to the Greek, it’s the Nemean Lion, the first of Hercules’s 12 labours.

Traits

Leos are known to be some of the kindest, most warm people. They’re creative, humorous, and very smart. Due to their bold and courageous personality, they tend to be very creative and strong leaders.

However, be cautious, because just like any other star sign they also have their negatives. They can be egoistic, self-centred, and very stubborn. Don’t let that put you off from them, considering how they do make for fantastic and positive friends.

Interests

As mentioned before, Leos are creative people, so you can expect to see many of them participating in theatre and cinema classes. They’re social, so while they do enjoy being around people, it may also be because they enjoy being admired (and not ignored). They also take interest in antiques, due to how these objects can be rare, expensive, and have a glamorous appeal.
